A Branch of Awam Gesar Monastery
We are setting the intention to establish and expand the Awam Yoga and Meditation Center in Slovenia as an official branch of Awam Gesar Monastery. Located in the heart of Slovenia, this will be the first Awam Yoga & Meditation Retreat Centre in Europe, established under the guidance and inspiration of His Holiness Khenchen Lama Rinpoche and the Padling Terser lineage of authentic Buddhist teachings within the Awam lineage of the Nyingma tradition of Vajrayana Buddhism.
Awam is a Tibetan syllable meaning the union of wisdom and compassion, which lies at the heart of this center’s vision and purpose.
The land for this sacred project is located at:
Velike Brusnice, 8321 Brusnice, Slovenia, a peaceful and natural setting ideally suited for meditation, retreat, and contemplative life.
The property consists of a two-storey detached building set on approximately 6,000 m² of land, with a built-up area of 95 m². The existing structure includes a living room, kitchen, one bedroom, and two toilets, providing a functional base for immediate use and future development as the center grows.
We are deeply honored to share that His Holiness Khenchen Lama Rinpoche will take up long-term residency at Awam Yoga Center Slovenia beginning in September 2026. His presence will offer continuous guidance, teachings, and blessings, ensuring the authentic transmission and living continuity of the Awam lineage.
The center will offer meditation and yoga classes, annual retreats, teachings, and other programs designed to support spiritual awakening, personal growth, inner balance, and well-being. Our mission is to build a powerful center of peace, learning, and genuine heart connection, open to all.
To bring this vision fully into form, we humbly seek your kind support and sponsorship. The project currently requires the following funding:
- EUR 100,000 — remaining balance due by March 2026
- EUR 115,000 — remaining balance due by June 2026
- EUR 400,000 — construction of additional retreat huts to support long-term and group retreats, including architectural, legal, and construction costs (from September 2026 onward)
We are grateful to share that EUR 100,000 has already been raised toward the first payment due in March 2026. To complete the remaining 50% of the land acquisition, our current goal is to raise EUR 115,000 by June 2026. Funds for the construction of retreat huts and additional rooms will be raised gradually over time.
We offer various sponsorship tiers, allowing individuals, families, and organizations to contribute according to their capacity. All contributions directly support land acquisition, essential infrastructure, and the creation of retreat facilities that will serve practitioners for generations to come.
Awam Yoga Center Slovenia is envisioned as a living sanctuary — a place for meditation, yoga, study, and retreat — rooted in the living tradition of Awam Gesar Monastery and in harmony with the land and surrounding environment.
